Foreign Relations commemorates an iconic aerial encounter in the 1986 film, Top Gun. In the scene, 2 F-14A Tomcats crewed by Maverick and Goose in one jet and Cougar and Merlin in the other engage a pair of MiG-28s (portrayed by black F-5E Tiger IIs). The engagement ends with Maverick rolling inverted above one of the MiGs and his Radar Intercept Officer (Goose) snapping a polaroid of the encounter.
