F-14A Tomcat BuNo 159873 served the United States Navy for over 2 decades and was assigned to several USN squadrons prior to its retirement. During its tenure with the VF-213 “Black Lions” it was featured in the 1986 film Top Gun, temporarily carrying the fictional VF-1 tail markings and the names “Cougar” and “Merlin” on its canopy rail. It was used extensively in a scene that never made the film, but was most notably featured as the aircraft Maverick pre-flights on the flight deck of the USS Enterprise before being launched as the Alert 5 aircraft in the movie’s final fight sequence. It finished its flying career at NAS Fallon with the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, operating as NSAWC 11.

SPECIFICATIONS

AD515 has been cut from fuselage skin removed from F-14A Tomcat BuNo 159873, a 1986 Top Gun screen-used F-14A. 873's most prominent scene in the film featured Maverick pre-flighting the aircraft in preparation to stand the "Alert 5" just prior to the final fighting sequence. This aircraft later served with the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center as NSAWC 11. The artwork for this card by Ryan Roadkill depicts the iconic scene from the film. AD515 will be available until 04 September. Any remaining inventory will be retired to the Vault.

Sheet 2: Sheet 1 was originally released last year and featured art by James Martin. Sheet 2 if offered with this new art in a grey Slider card. Air Drops material is a combination of grey, green, white, and raw aluminum exterior and interior fuselage skin. Fulfillment is random.

Slab: All Air Drops can be purchased as a Slab, which preserves the Air Drop in a magnetic slab case sealed with serialized security sticker. Scroll through the product pics to see the Slab magnetic case.
