The F-104

The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was a lightweight, high-performance fighter developed by Lockheed’s famed Skunk Works. First flown in 1954, the Starfighter’s slender fuselage, razor-thin wings and powerful General Electric J79 engine gave it exceptional climb performance and speeds exceeding Mach 2. The “missile with a man in it” entered service in 1958 and served as both an interceptor and tactical fighter - later becoming an important Cold War aircraft for numerous allied air forces around the world.

SPECIFICATIONS

AD1007 has been cut from a horizontal stabilizer we dug out of the sand earlier this year. It still wore its original exterior grey paint and Lockheed C/N 1043: F-104A 56-0755 (FG-755), an Edwards chase plane confirmed on both the X-15 and XB-70. The jet itself survives at March Field Air Museum in Riverside, CA. We’re working to pin down exactly which X-15 flights 755 chased, and we’ll publish what we find.

AD1007 features art by 8380 Laboratories. TOPAS Air Drops can be purchased with the X-15 or XB-70 art. Sheet 2+ Air Drops are fulfilled randomly - most feature X-15 art but a few Opal chase cards come with the XB-70 art and original stenciled Air Drop relics.

Sheets:

TOPAS (Sheet 1): TOPAS (The Original Production Archive Sheet) Air Drops are the first made cards and come sealed in a magnetic case with a metallic security sticker. Located inside the magnetic case is an NFC tag that is embedded with a locator sheet that will show you exactly where your Air Drop was cut from.

Each TOPAS Air Drop ships in a tin featuring the card art, a serialized TOPAS COA, a sticker.

AD1007 TOPAS Air Drops are offered in Rivet Hole (Air Drops that feature a rivet hole, printed on a matte silver card), Multicolor - featuring origianl exterior stencils (on a crystal holographic card), Data Plate (on a shiny silver card), and Solid (Solid colors). There are 4 Opal (holographic) Air Drops randomly fulfilled amongst Solid orders. These contain skin pieces that feature unique finishes or combinations of colors. The product photo for TOPAS shows all TOPAS variants with only the Data Plate shown in the slab case. All variants will ship in a magnetic slab with a security sticker.

TOPAS Full Set: 2 TOPAS Full Sets are offered that ship with all 4 TOPAS variants listed above plus a fifth guaranteed TOPAS Opal Air Drop.

AD1007 TOPAS Air Drops with X-15 art are constructed using a black cartridge; XB-70 art Air Drops are constructed using a white cartridge.

Sheet 2+: Our Standard Issue Air Drops are identical to TOPAS Air Drops in construction, but ship in a custom bag and do not come with the case, NFC, or registry card. AD1007 Standard Air Drops are randomly fulfilled. Additionally, 4 Data Plate Air Drops, 5 Rivet Hole Air Drops, and 5 Opal holographic Air Drops are mixed into Sheet 2 and will be randomly fulfilled amongst Sheet 2 orders.

AD1007 Sheet 2+ Air Drops are constructed using a grey cartridge.
